”Working with my instructional coach has helped me move from reading about a new strategy to actually jumping in and trying something new. Having someone working alongside me helps me talk through new ideas and methods and gives me courage to step out of my comfort zone. I am a better teacher, and my students receive more engaging and effective lessons as a result of working with my coach.”

-Karen Scoonover

I graduated from Butler University with a degree in Early/Middle Childhood Education and Special Education and earned my Elementary and Middle School Math Specialist master’s degree from Ball State. Before becoming the Washington Woods Instructional Coach, I taught the second and third grades and served as a STEM Teacher/Coach in Zionsville, IN.

I believe in the power of collaboration. Coaching allows me to learn alongside teachers as we grow in our teaching practice to improve student learning. I find so much joy in learning with the teachers of WWES and across WWS.
